We are so happy to learn that seven of our afflicted have fully recovered! We will continue to keep you updated as we receive confirmed information. We thank our first responders, medical personnel, essential personnel, and all our generous volunteers and contributors. We pray for our afflicted and mourn our lost. If you would like to show your support, please help us light up our nights in our community by placing a candle or lights in your windows or outdoors.
MASKS
Masks are required at all retail establishments, while riding on NJTransit, and recommended in any place in close proximity to others. Please visit www.nj.gov and www.cdc.gov for more information. If you are in need of a mask, Linda’s Creative Gifts located at 1259 Springfield Ave in New Providence, is hosting her 3rd Mask Giveaway with voluntary donations going to our New Providence Rescue Squad, tomorrow (Saturday 4/18) between 11am and 2pm. Additionally, Mike Allocco of Special-Tees, 300 Springfield Ave in Berkeley Heights, is offering his services to sew you your own mask if you drop off to him (top mailbox outside Special Tees) a labeled ziplock bag or large envelope with your name and phone number and 12”x16” pieces of cut up old or worn 50/50 blend sweatshirt or cotton t-shirt. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Our Memorial Day Parade is sadly cancelled but the New Providence Recreation Department, in collaboration with American Legion Post #433, is collecting photos from Memorial Day Parades years past for a video as a way of saying thank you to all of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. They are collecting any past New Providence Memorial Day pictures you may have between 1954 and 2019 to be included in the video. Photos can be of any aspect of the parade, community groups, marching band, military, wreath laying ceremonies, etc. Please submit your photos via email at recdept@newprov.org with “Parade Photos” in the subject line by May 1st. Please contact Bernadette Cuccaro, Community Activities Director, at 908-665-8258 with any questions. This weekend we will be putting together an NP-COVID19 Month in Review. Please have a good weekend! Please continue to shelter in. No non-essential outings or gatherings. Maintain all social distancing protocols, vigorously wash hands often, and sanitize surfaces.
